THE NEW AMERICAN HOME 2026

LIGHT HOUSE

Lake Osceola, Winter Park

Project Type: New Residence

Status: Completed in 2026

Designed as a highly site-specific response to a complex lot, The New American Home 2026 engages the unique geometry and topography of its setting while maintaining a restrained presence from the street. Although substantial in scale, the home is carefully positioned to remain private and understated, revealing itself gradually through a choreographed arrival sequence that unfolds as one moves through the site.

An 18-foot change in elevation allowed a lower level to be seamlessly integrated into the landscape, housing underground parking and a range of entertainment and wellness spaces. A car elevator replaces a traditional ramp, preserving the landscaped front yard while introducing a discreet and elegant solution. The home is organized around a variety of gathering environments, from large-scale presentation spaces to more intimate settings such as the entry library and a detached lakeside office. At the center of daily life, the kitchen is conceived as a culinary classroom and demonstration space, reinforcing the home’s role as a place for collaboration, hospitality, and connection.
